History and origins
Formerly named Hương Lâm, the temple is recorded as having originated in the 15th century near Đoàn Thành. In 1796, it moved approximately 200 m from its previous location and took the name Diên Khánh.
Objects such as a 17th-century bell and the 1796 stele reveal different layers of the temple’s history; the age of an object should not be equated with the age of all the buildings visible today.
Architecture & surroundings
The layout follows the “inner Công, outer Quốc” pattern, with an inner arrangement resembling 工 enclosed by an outer layout resembling 國. A three-entrance gate, courtyard and successive worship halls form the complex. Upturned roofs and bronze statues are distinctive features. View decorative details gently, without touching objects or placing offerings on them.
Cultural value
Thành Pagoda preserves architectural and sculptural heritage while serving local Buddhist life. Its presence in the city gives residents a quiet space to pay respects and learn about their home region’s traditions.
Events & festivals
The temple provides guidance for Buddhist observances and practice sessions on each occasion. Please contact it in advance for times and participation arrangements; preserve the dignity of the worship space and leave room for those taking part in ceremonies.
