Highlights

  • A heritage site in the Vân Trung mountain area.
  • Stone column bases, paired inscriptions and architectural remains.
  • The Three Jewels altar in the rear sanctuary.
  • Bảo Lạc’s early-spring festival.

History and origins

Sources give differing accounts of the temple’s beginnings. Research published in 2026 cites a 2006 heritage file recording the 16th year of Minh Mạng (1835), while calling for further verification. The temple suffered damage and changes of use; it was designated a provincial heritage site in 2006.

Architecture & surroundings

Research describes the former layout as a five-bay front hall, a three-bay rear sanctuary and two enclosing corridors. A 2024 survey recorded many deteriorated or missing elements; remains include stone column bases, timber structures, paired inscriptions and convex-and-concave roof tiles. The Three Jewels altar in the rear sanctuary has been restored, with statues of the Buddhas of the Three Times and Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteśvara.

Cultural value

The site reflects interaction between Buddhism and community beliefs in Bảo Lạc. Some accounts of the temple’s name and associated devotional figures remain oral traditions. Careful interpretation encourages appreciation of the heritage and shared protection of its surviving historic elements.

Events & festivals

The early-spring festival associated with the temple has its main day on the 9th day of the first lunar month, with incense offerings and community cultural activities. Please check the local programme for the relevant year before visiting.
