History and origins
Võ Hà Thuật founded the temple in 1942, and it is associated with Venerable Hộ Tông’s teaching work. Gotama Cetiya is a modern structure whose construction began in 2007.
The site began as land for a retreat hut and meditation associated with lay practitioner Võ Hà Thuật and Zen master Hộ Tông. Development continued under successive abbots, creating the present ancestral temple and architectural complex.
Architecture & surroundings
The multi-storey stupa has golden spires and a broad courtyard. Its architectural form reflects exchange with regional Theravāda Buddhist traditions.
Gotama Cetiya and the main hall are separate structures within the grounds. White, gold and the pool highlight the stupa complex. Follow instructions for interior access; do not assume its opening hours match those of the courtyard.
Cultural value
Bửu Long is significant in the formation of Vietnamese Kinh Theravāda Buddhism. Its role in practice and study deserves attention alongside its architectural beauty.
Events & festivals
Services, meditation and stupa access follow the temple’s guidance. Courtyard visiting hours do not automatically permit entry to every level of the stupa.
