History and origins
Buddhist sources record that Venerable Thích Giác Đạo built the temple in 1964. Following periods of upheaval, restoration and reconstruction began in 1997. Today’s appearance is the result of successive building phases; not everything dates to the original foundation.
Architecture & surroundings
The main hall, stupa, corridors and gardens create a layered layout. Woodwork, roof structures and the placement of statues show East Asian Buddhist artistic influences, while ponds and greenery soften the scale of the buildings.
Cultural value
Minh Thành is a centre for Buddhist study and activities in Pleiku and also presents a distinctive approach to contemporary temple architecture. Visitors can learn about statues and symbols through the temple’s guidance rather than infer their meaning solely from outward appearance.
Events & festivals
Buddhist activities and ordination ceremonies held at the temple have been reported in Buddhist Sangha publications. Please consult current schedules or contact the temple before attending a ceremony or retreat; reports of past events do not replace up-to-date announcements.
