Linh Quang Pagoda in Thanh Nưa is the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Điện Biên Provincial Executive Board and hosts many activities for study, practice, gratitude and community support. This is Linh Quang Pagoda in Điện Biên and should be distinguished from temples of the same name in other provinces.

History and origins

A clearly confirmed building milestone is the inauguration of the Śākyamuni Buddha worship hall on 9/5/2024, during activities marking the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s establishment in Điện Biên Province. This date concerns the hall and must not be used as the founding date of the entire temple.

Architecture & surroundings

The Buddha hall and ceremonial courtyard accommodate collective rituals. Photographs of activities show worship areas combined with spaces where the wider community can join retreats. Work areas, accommodation and the daily living spaces of monastics should be respected according to on-site instructions.

Cultural value

Besides its religious role, Linh Quang connects Buddhist devotees with charitable work and commemorations of those who have served the community and country. Study and practice programmes aim to cultivate gratitude and apply compassion in everyday life.

Events & festivals

On 25/1/2026, the temple held a Buddha’s Enlightenment Day ceremony together with a Sunday retreat and the distribution of Lunar New Year gifts. This event has already taken place. Please ask the temple for its current schedule, especially for retreats requiring registration.
